Wine Wednesday: Our House White Wine

Do you have a house wine? I always love having an old standby favorite on hand in a quantity that ensures we can serve it over and over again at a variety of occasions. We tend to change up our house wine based on what great wines at great values we find, but we usually have one.

This summer, our house white wine is Cline Cellars Viognier. We love Cline wines, and we were able to find this Viognier at Bin Ends for $8 a bottle. It’s definitely always worth looking at stores like this for wine bargains!

Cline Viognier

Cline Viognier has all that I love about Viognier, those ripe peach notes, hints of pineapple, vanilla, and a round and decadent mouthfeel. It goes well with all sorts of food, and since it has good body, it would make a great winter white as well.

In all of my trips to Sonoma, I have never visited Cline, but I am hoping to get there this month. The countdown to wine country is on!

If you had to choose a house white wine for your home, what would you choose?

Our house wine is Cline’s zinfandel! I haven’t tried their viognier yet, but definitely have to. We visited Cline on our Sonoma trip and have to say they had the nicest people working there of any winery!

I recently fell in love with Cline’s Ancient Vine Mourvedre. You HAVE to try it when you go. It’s my favorite red right now. I also realllllly love their rose. I love Cline because their wines are so reasonably priced.

I visited their tasting room last month and it was so packed. We had a pretty bad experience there, but after the tasting manager found out, he more than made it up to us, so I’m still a huge fan and definitely think it’s worth a visit.

As for our house wine…hmm…we’ve had so much of our wedding wine left from last year that there’s been lots of Kenwood Jack London Zinfandel and Kenwood Chardonnay in our house. I tend to like to keep rose’s on hand as well as Syrah and pinots but not really any specific wineries at this point.

I’m always keeping bottles of Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc. I also just stocked up at Truro Vineyards on the Cape!

My house white would probably be a Gruner of some sort. Food-friendly, people-pleasing. I need to work on selecting house wines. So fun!
