FFF: Melissa Nibbles

TGIF! Today is my last Friday at my job! Can I tell you how scary (and exciting) that is? This time next week I will be kicking off my 3 days of relaxation before I hit the ground running, studying for my wine class mid-term and hard core job hunting. But for now I am just excited about the weekend and week ahead for a few reasons:

1) The Head of the Charles – My husband and I went to the Head of the Charles and Grafton Street for hot chocolate on one of our early dates 7 years ago! (first time he said he loved me Winking smile). It is a great Boston event and one of the last times to be outdoors in bearable weather.

2) Island Creek Oyster Bar – I have been waiting for this oyster haven to open up for a long time, and I can not wait to get there!

3) The Red White Boston event with Pairings Boston on Monday. I’ll be there sipping on a glass of Champagne from the vault for $10 and eating Cabot cheese. Will you join me?

4) The Bauer Wines Howl-o-ween giveaway which closes TONIGHT!

So today’s featured foodie is one of my favorite bloggers. She is sassy, smart, funny, and honest. She dares to write things that I sometimes only think. She has shared her fair share of ups and downs with all of us, and I think we are all better bloggers, readers, and people for it. You may have read her blog in the past, you may read it daily, and if you have never been there, you need to know Melissa Nibbles.

How Long Have You Been Blogging?

I’ve been blogging for a year and two months.

What Is Your Favorite Thing About Blogging?

My favorite thing about blogging is the people. The people I’ve met online have been incredibly supportive, friendly, and are always there for me when I need advice or a cooking tip. I’ve been very fortunate to meet many of these people in person and true, genuine friendships have formed. I’ve had a lot of friends move out of state recently and at the age of 30, it’s hard to meet new people and make new friends. Blog meetups have been a great way for me to meet people that share the same interests that I do. If it weren’t for blogging, I’d probably be sitting home alone on the weekends!

What Is Your Least Favorite Thing About Blogging?

My least favorite thing about blogging is the pressure I put on myself. I want people to enjoy my blog and sometimes it’s tough to come up with things to write about. I used to think I had to post three times a day to be successful, but I’ve relaxed and only post once a day now. I would rather post one quality post than three posts about nothing. I’ve enjoyed blogging more this way and don’t put as much pressure on myself to “perform” anymore.

What Has Been Your Most Fun Post To Write?

The posts that were the most fun to write were my Dear Diary posts. I moved over the summer and found my old diary from middle school in the back of my closet. I thought it’d be hilarious to post some of my most embarrassing entries. Everyone got a kick out of it!

Where Do You See Your Blog This Time Next Year?

This time next year, I hope people are still reading my blog! Seriously though, I’d like to bring more of a “foodie” aspect to my blog. I’d like to take a few cooking classes, attend food festivals, try new restaurants and share those experiences with my readers.

Thank you, Melissa! I truly can not wait to meet you.

If any of you reading now would like to be the next featured foodie, please email me! Happy weekend, all!
