Legal Harborside Roof Deck

Boston is moving up in the world. Hot new restaurants, celebrity chefs, and some of the best-ever use of its waterfront mark this summer in the city, and Wednesday night some friends, my husband, and I took full advantage of it.

After having a great meal at the new Legal Harborside, I couldn’t wait to return to visit its very recently opened roof deck.

I met Megan and Daisy at South Station, and we walked over to Liberty Wharf, where we later met my husband and Michelle.

Once we arrived at Legal Harborside, we made a beeline for the roof deck, knowing it would be crowded. Up the three flights of stairs, which reminded me how out of shape I am, and on to the roof deck we went.

The walk, and the short time we spent looking for a table on the deck, which is open seating, was totally worth it. Views over Boston Harbor and strong summer sun greeted us.

One of the main reasons we decided to visit the Legal roof deck, besides the views, were the pitchers of fancy cocktails that they feature. Many of the libations sounded good, but we had two that we could not stop thinking about.

First up, a pitcher of St. German cocktails: St. Germain, Rose Cava.

Pretty and bubbly in pink, you could really taste the floral notes in the rose cava and the herbal notes in the St. Germain. This cocktail is really light, perfect for the hot evening.

The one slight downfall of the roof deck is that the food menu is quite limited. Since I had my first day at my new part time social media gig at Zipcar, I didn’t get to each much, nerves and all, so I was ravenous.

Along with our first pitcher, we went with the hummus with za’atar spices and the kalamata and fig spread.

Both were delicious, but I definitely liked the pop of flavors in the hummus best. As we nibbled on our snacks, we also finished our St. German cocktails and moved on to the Seaport Spritzer made with Prosecco, Italian aromatized wines, and grapefruit.

I preferred this cocktail, loving the slight bitterness of it. The cocktails were both really well made, and the pitchers are a great value for groups. The roof deck is definitely a great place to go for a girls’ night out.

Eventually our hunger got the best of us; maybe the roof deck doesn’t serve meals because people would stay there forever otherwise? Ready to eat as soon as possible, we headed to Legal Harborside’s first floor, where we had a great dinner.

Hubs and I shared oysters, two from Wellfleet, and two French Kiss oysters from New Brunswick.

And I finally got the lobster roll I had been dreaming of and tweeting about. To be honest, I prefer a buttered lobster roll to lobster salad, but this was really good anyway. The lobster was tender, the roll buttery, and the fries a crispy, hot perfection.

We were lucky to get inside as the wind started whipping and the rain came down briefly after our meal; while some of the roof deck is covered, the part we were on was not.

Welcome to the neighborhood, Legal Harborside roof deck! I am pretty certain you will be very popular around these parts! Smile

Awesome! I’ve been wanting to check the new Legal out. I LOVE that they have cocktails in pitchers! But too bad the roofdeck menu is limited. Now I’m craving lobster rolls… Not that that’s anything new 🙂
