I had a really fantastic day off yesterday. I had planned on working from home, but then forgot work altogether and had a day for me. Did a 45 minute ride on my stationary bike, had a giant purple monster for brekkie, and then drank a pint of juice (carrot, celery, cuke, and apple) from my new juicer. More on that later, yes I jumped on the blog juicing bandwagon, and I love it.
I spent the afternoon walking dogs, then went to the Boston Public Library in search of the next level of Pimsleur Spanish CD’s. No luck, but I did take out the book, Bread Body Spirit: Finding the sacred in food. I have not yet started it, but will be sure to write a review.
After a long, hot afternoon around the city, I met my hubby in Charlestown for dinner at Tangierino. One of my colleagues pointed it out the other night as one of the most romantic spots in Boston, so we were excited to try it out. The decor of Tangierino is GORGEOUS. It is Moroccan themed, dark, with beautiful jewel tones everywhere. I just want to hang out here all of the time. Its comfy, warm, and sexy, a truly ideal location for a group celebration or a romantic date.
We had a reservation, but ended up sitting at the bar. The bartender was awesome, chatty, friendly, and super interested in the food and drinks of the restaurant. We first ordered the shellfish platter which came with a delicious variety of sauces, including harissa, one of my favorite things in the world. Sooo spicy and delicious! I had clams, shrimp, and crab, all dunked in the sauces, and they were fresh and succulent.
By the time we finished the shellfish platter, I ordered a Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA. I am just loving IPA’s these days. We were quite full, but listened to the recommendation of our bartender and ordered chicken b’stila, a lovely phyllo dough filled with chicken, spiced with cinnamon, and served with a yogurt sauce. We also ordered pumpkin seed crusted scallops which came with a to die for salad that had artichokes and an orange Grand Marnier sauce. I thought I would be too full for dessert, but hubby ordered the chocolate caramel mousse pyramid, which had fluffy, airy chocolate mousse on the outside and spongy, caramel cake on the inside. It was surprisingly light, and perfectly chocolatey and delish. I wanted to try about 15 other things on the menu, so I will have to make an effort to return soon. If you are coming to Boston or live here, I would definitely recommend this dining experience because it really is quite the experience from the second you walk in.
