Midweek Pick-me-ups

Hello blog world! It is Wednesday, and I am working from home tomorrow and have Friday off = no office for 4 days! Wahoo! AND I am holding an Amazing Grass Chocolate SuperFood giveaway; the drawing is Friday. Do tell your friends and feel free to post on your own blog if you have one. I hope this will be the first of many great giveaways. I love to share great things.

The hub and I just finished up with a great dinner at Myers + Chang here in Boston. It was a-mazing, and on the way home I got thinking about how much I love that restaurant, but also about the things that really pick me up during the week. First off, the dinner. Now I know I did an entire post on Myers + Chang awhile back, so I will keep it short. The reason I wanted to go there this evening in the first place is that they have tantalizing Facebook updates all day long. Today they updated about an Arnold Palmer lemonade/iced tea cocktail. This being one of my favorite beverage combos, I was sold. We each ordered one, and they came in glasses with fun straws:

For food, we ordered the Asian pickles, lemony shrimp dumplings, Thai ginger chicken salad, and the short rib tacos. The pickles came first, and I told my husband that I could eat these all day long. So crunchy and tangy and bright, they really brought my tastebuds to life. The dumplings came next, and since we have had these before, we knew to expect a creamy lemon taste, accompanied by a briny shrimp flavor. To die for. The Thai ginger chicken salad is my staple here, a bed of crunchy butter lettuce with rice noodles, chicken, Thai basil, mint, and some chopped hot peppers. This always hits the spot with a variety of textures and flavors. I really love noodles in a salad!

The hub’s tacos were good too. I consider myself a mostly non meat eater, but as I said to a co-worker who offered me her chorizo and potato dish Saturday night, “I eat meat if it looks good and I want to eat it.” I like the lack of rules I have developed about food! One of the best parts of the evening was that Joanne Chang herself was in the open kitchen cooking! She is a local celeb, amazing chef and baker, and someone I just really admire. I love that, though she is so successful, she is still at her restaurant cooking, tasting food, and greeting customers.

On the way home, I picked up some new Nasoya chocolate silken tofu. I have heard a lot about it, and can’t wait to make a banana chocolate spinach smoothie in the am to sip as I work. When I got here, I busted out another one of my favorite things, a Lush bath bomb. Lush sells a variety of delicious, natural, homemade bath and body products. I am partial to their bath bombs, bath melts, and toner tabs. If you have a store near you, definitely visit, even for the incredible smells!

I am off to have a glass of Spanish red from our Bin Ends purchases and to snuggle into bed to finish up my work for the day and to read some of your blogs and comments (another one of my favorite pick me ups!)

What picks you up on a rainy, gloomy, busy bad day? Hopefully the chance to WIN some Amazing Grass 🙂

My giant tub o’ superfood came today, but UPS didn’t leave it. Luckily I will be home tomorrow. Chocolate milk big time tomorrow afternoon!

Buenas noches, amigos 🙂

I love those lush bath bombs! But once, I made the mistake of using a blue seaweed-y one right after washing the tub. It made quite a mess and I had to scrub the tub TWICE.
