Happy Friday to all! Last weekend’s lack of sleep left me seriously dragging for this week, and I am happy to curl up with Indian takeout and TV tonight.

Earlier in the week I posted about possible Valentine’s Day date spots.  Today I have one Valentine’s Day gift idea for the food lover in your life (or you!) that will give again and again and do a world of good for hungry children in Massachusetts.

Taste of the Nation tickets are currently 20% off with this code: VDAY2012. The Taste of the Nation event is on April 19, 2012 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston. It is an AMAZING gathering of chefs from around Boston, and it is absolutely one of my favorite events of the year.

Just check out this year’s honorary chef chairs:

Jody Adams, Rialto and Trade

Joanne Chang, Flour Bakery and Myers + Chang

Gordon Hamersley, Hamersley’s Bistro

Andy Husbands, Tremont 647

Taste of the Nation benefits Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign, which is dedicated to ending childhood hunger by making sure kids get the healthy food they need every day.

One hundred percent of ticket sales goes to this cause.

For a recap and photos of last year’s Taste of the Nation, check out my post. Hope to see you there this year!

One thing I love about working with the Shops at Prudential Center on the PR for their holiday events is that each event links back to the community in some way. This November, they are giving shoppers in the Boston area an opportunity to get that holiday shopping done before Thanksgiving while receiving exclusive discounts and helping eight charities. Shoppers will quickly make up the $5 registration fee in discounts. I’ll be there on November 17, and I think the Ann Taylor and LOFT discounts I find will be a lot more than $5. I might be shopping a bit for myself. . . shh.

It’s a win-win for everyone! If you have a blog and would like to share GIFT with your readers or Twitter followers, it would be greatly appreciated!

What kind of holiday shopper are you? Were you done in July, do you buy as you go, or do you wait until the very last minute?

Have you heard about The Good Belly Project?  Molly contacted me to let me about the initiative which her company started last week. It’s as easy as taking a picture of food at a participating restaurant, then sharing them. Something tells me we can do that. Winking smile

The Good Belly Project supports UNICEF in its efforts to fight famine in Somalia. Several Boston area restaurants have agreed to participate and it works like this:

Step 1: Visit a participating restaurant
Step 2: Take photos of your food and share them on Instagram for the iPhone using the hashtag #goodbellyproject
Step 3: For every photo taken and shared with that hashtag, the restaurant will donate $1 to UNICEF (If you take 10 photos during your meal, that’s $10 to UNICEF)

The Good Belly Project will run through November 6th. Participating restaurants include: Abigail’s, Bambara, Bergamot, Bon Me Food Truck, Figs Beacon Hill, Figs Charlestown, Fillbelly’s, Hillstone, Isabelle’s CurlyCakes, Island Creek Oyster Bar, Kingfish Hall, KO Prime, Market at the W Hotel, Naked Pizza, Rialto, Sibling Rivalry, Stephi’s on Tremont, and The Vault.

You can follow the project on Twitter @JoinGoodBelly or at http://www.goodbellyproject.org/.

In other news, because I love the ability that bloggers have to help influence trends and change, I am working on a little something that hopefully all Boston bloggers can participate in. Stay tuned!

Have you taken a pic for The Good Belly Project yet?
