Half day Friday! I can not wait to spend the weekend with my favorite mamas, my own, my sister, and my nana. And with my goddaughter as well! Will you be celebrating a mom or other special woman in your life this weekend?

Before I introduce this week’s featured foodie, I wanted to remind you about The Olive Press giveaway. The people at The Olive Press have been so great to me and are offering a $30 gift certificate to one of you, so make sure to check it out!

This week’s Friday Foodie Feature is Clarice from A Crumb Falls. I love the way she writes, and I think she sums her blog up best in her About section:

Food – Eating good for you foods, but not giving up the plain good foods

Exercise – Working out and finding little ways to be active everyday

Travel – I’d rather the travel be frequent and not moderate

Living Friendly – Encompasses all my ideas of being green, saving money, and doing things in a thoughtful way

All of these elements are right up my alley, and Clarice’s positive attitude and efforts toward a more balanced life make her blog a great place to visit. Enjoy this Friday Foodie Feature and if YOU would like to be featured, email me: traveleatlove (at) gmail.com. Happy Friday!

How long have you been blogging?
I have been blogging on and off since 2005 in various different spaces, and even before that I had a Xanga account (let’s hope I deleted that). Initially my blogs were just random musings based on anything that entered my mind. However, I have been seriously blogging with some frequency and direction(food, travel, fitness) since September 2009.

What is your favorite thing about blogging?
My favorite thing about blogging is all of the new ideas I’ve been introduced to and having a place to formulate my own thoughts. As an English teacher, I force my students to formulate their thoughts in writing. Personally, I do not always know what I am thinking until it is written down in a organized way, adding pictures just makes it even better. Least favorite? Sometimes I feel inferior to other bloggers like I should be posting three times or making funny v-logs, but I know that’s just not me.

What has been your most fun blog post to write?
My current favorite post that I recently wrote was about my trip to Denver. I enjoyed writing this post because I got to gush about travel, nature, food, and my friends.

Where do you see your blog this time next year?
I would love to have a consistent base of people who read my blog maybe 50 – 100. However, I really just hope to continue to have my own voice and enjoy the experience.

Is there anything else about your blogging experience you would like to share?
My blog is a mixture of food, fitness, travel, and my journey to become a centered person living a moderate lifestyle.

First things first. Have you entered my Honest Tea giveaway? You can enter to win an entire case of a variety of Honest Tea flavors, so check it out!

It has been a good week for the bloggy with my first Foodgawker acceptance (followed by a dozen rejections!), my first Foodbuzz Top 9, and some fun giveaways in the works. I love a good blog week!

Otherwise, I have been dragging. I think it’s just the weather which is past due for some warmth and sunshine. It is promised to be in the 70’s for the weekend, and I can not wait, not to mention that I have 2 great wine events and a possible food event coming up this week. TGIF!

Today’s foodie feature, Erin from Travel Eat Repeat is a girl after my own heart. She has an awesome travel and living abroad background and shares my goal of eating her way around the world and telling everyone about it! Erin’s blog is so much fun, and it is really just a breath of fresh air to read. I love checking it out every day, and I can’t wait to see what adventures she finds stateside!

How long have you been blogging?

I’ve been blogging since October 2007, when I started my blog (then called Postcards From the World) to keep in touch with friends and family back home while studying abroad in London. It wasn’t something I started doing regularly until I moved to South Korea in September 2008. Suddenly, blogging was a fantastic way to record my day-to-day life in Seoul and share that experience with others, too.

What is your favorite thing about blogging? Least favorite?

I love meeting new people–both in person and on-line–and realizing how many shared interests we have. Blogging has also introduced me to new recipes, cool products and created a fantastic Internet network of liked-minded people. There’s nothing I don’t like about blogging, except maybe those days when absolutely nothing has happened and I feel like there’s nothing to say or blog about. Luckily those days are pretty rare. 😉

What has been your most fun blog post to write?

People really seemed to like the posts I wrote about traveling through Australia and New Zealand but my personal favorite was called “How to travel around the world without being rich.” By far the thing I get the most emails and comments about is “how do you travel so much?” so I was able to talk about my experience teaching in Korea and being budget-conscious.

Where do you see your blog this time next year?

My life is changing so much right now–settling down from traveling, searching for an apartment, interviewing for full-time jobs. I want my blog to reflect that and show what it’s like to be a single girl living in the city and exploring everything there is to do here.

Is there anything else about your blogging experience you would like to share?

I don’t keep a “traditional” food blog but that’s definitely the type of blog I read the most. It’s fun to do my own thing and I really encourage more people to start blogging, no matter what subject they want to write about. Thanks so much for this opportunity, Meghan!

Thank you, Erin, for sharing some of your adventures with us and especially for sharing this photo, which is no doubt the best photo to ever be posted on Travel Eat Love!

Happy Friday! While I am working a half day, then getting ready to head to Ireland, I wanted to share a post from Gina of the blog Simply Life. Gina makes amazing food, it seems like every single day that she has gorgeous photos and recipes posted! She is also a runner and an overall super sweet and interesting blogger.

What is your favorite thing about blogging?

I’ve always loved to cook, eat, and find new recipes but blogging has turned this common activity into something even more special that I can remember for more than a day or two and and am also able to share with others!

Least favorite?

Learning all the new things about computers, layouts, HTML view, etc! I’ve never been one who uses the computer for much more than checking email, Word documents and reading the news but blogging has challenged me to learn MUCH more than that!  I’m so grateful that I’ve been able to learn so much already, I just know I have a far way to go and not enough time 🙂

What has been your most fun blog post to write?

My post about homemade tapas has been my favorite!  Spanish tapas are one of our favorite types of food but I’ve always been too intimidated to try making them on my own.  Although I still think that many restaurants prepare tapas better, I loved being able to learn the basics and the chance to enjoy some of our favorite foods at home!

Where do you see your blog this time next year?

Great question!  I hope it’s a bit more organized – I keep adding new categories and haven’t quite figured out how I want to arrange everything since I never really know what the next change in my blog will be!  I also hope that I learn a lot more about blogging and that Simply Life reflects that 🙂

Is there anything else about your blogging experience you would like to share?

That I definitely don’t photograph or blog about everything I eat!  I most often post about dinners we’ve made at home or eaten out, but often times if we’re with company I don’t bring my camera, and I also don’t think people are too interested in the nights where our dinner instructions include “opening the can of soup and heating it up on the stove!”  🙂

Also, I always truly read and appreciate EVERY comment on my blog and get so excited to hear people’s responses and to be able to start learning about new blogs and foods that are out there!

Thank You Meghan for allowing me to participate in this!  Your blog has definitely been a great influence on places we try, trips we’d love to take and wines we need to taste! 🙂
