Happy Sunday! Are you all having a good weekend so far? I just returned from a 6 hour drive from New Jersey after spending the weekend with my mom, my sister and brother in law, and my niece and nephew.
We had dinner out, a turkey dinner in (which resulted in the turkey stock bubbling away on the stove right now!), a girls-only sleepover, and even a little chilly beach time at the Jersey Shore! I love going home.
And then I love coming home. I arrived back in Boston after a stressful drive. I absolutely hate driving. I used to commute from Dorchester to Waltham every day and was fine with it, but since I don’t drive much anymore, it has started to terrify me. I am still uncurling my fingers from their steering-wheel shaped grasp.
I came home to a newly cleaned house, groceries, and a house that smelled amazing. My husband had done it all while I was away, and we got to sit down to an early dinner that he whipped up.
In this healthy, comfy late summer meal:
chicken breasts
low fat mushroom soup
mushrooms
carrots
onions
broccoli
cauliflower
orzo
He just tossed it all into the slow cooker, got to cleaning the house, and was ready to welcome me about five hours later. How sweet.
As hard as it is to bounce back and forth between Boston and New Jersey (and Ireland!), I feel so lucky to have so many places I automatically refer to as home, and so many people in those homes who welcome me.
I’m a lucky girl.
I have to work for a few hours this evening; this week is already looking pretty crazy with work, a Stonyfield lunch, a friend’s birthday dinner, a meeting for a new project, and hopefully a hair cut. I desperately need a hair cut. I hope you are all having an incredible, relaxing Sunday!
