Boston Yacht Haven

Staycations are all the rage these days. Not only do they help save on travel time and costs, but they also allow you to spend some time getting to know your own city or town and relaxing in it like a vacationer as opposed to being part of the daily rush.

A few months ago, we were wandering the North End when we happened upon the Boston Yacht Haven. We ended up going inside to check daily docking rates, met the innkeeper and harbor master, and thanks to their kindness, ended up staying there this past weekend.

A quick trip across the harbor with a stop at the ICA to check out the cliff divers, and we were pulling into the Boston Yacht Haven, capable and friendly staff ready to help us dock. Thank God. No matter how many times we dock, it is still terrifying.

When we were tied up, we went inside where we were shown to our room which was simply beautiful. Luxurious, spacious, and comfortable, it was lit by large windows and French doors which opened out to a stunning harbor view and balcony.

The bed was so, so comfortable. Actually, the entire room was comfortable. The lofted ceilings made it feel airy and light, and on such a hot afternoon, the air conditioning was a cool, welcome addition that made us feel like we were miles away from anywhere.

In truth, we were in the heart if the North End, blocks from Boston’s finest Italian restaurants, a summer festival, and all of the fun that town has to offer.

One of the best kept secrets in Boston, the Boston Yacht Haven is so special because it offers those two aspects, quiet, serene water views with the excitement and convenience of the city right there. Magically, they separate the two. We opted for serenity, spending time on both our balcony and our boat until the sun went down.

Bliss.

Once the sun did set, we headed to Aragosta for a quick dinner at the bar. The food and service were both phenomenal, and as I wished, we were back at the inn by 10:00 to relax.

Morning brought more beautiful views, the clank of sailboats and the sound of lapping waves, along with a complimentary breakfast of fruit, yogurt, juice, coffee, bagels, muffins, cereal, and coffee.

One of the best things about this breakfast, besides that it was healthy and filling, was that we could bring it to our balcony to enjoy the view just a little bit longer.

We left the Boston Yacht Haven feeling completely relaxed. Everyone was so wonderful, and the property is truly unique. It’s not your typical hotel but rather offers something special.

The Boston Yacht Haven is open year round, and they have a prime view for the New Year’s Eve fireworks. It would be a great place for a little getaway, and we are already planning on a winter visit to watch the snow over the harbor and to take advantage of North End dining when the summer crowds have vanished.

I can’t thank the people at the Boston Yacht Haven enough for having us. Their hospitality was second to none, and I would heartily recommend that my friends and family stay there when in town.

Happy Birthday to my dear sister today!

Love this place as well….stayed in the same room in October! This is our 5th time staying there! Our son lives in The North End, so it is a perfect location for us! Love that it’s secluded, yet a few minutes walk to everywhere!!
