Blueberry Lemonade Martini

A cocktail loaded with antioxidants? Yes, please! When it comes to imbibing, my wine stash far, far outweighs the hard liquor we keep around the house. We usually only have vodka, Irish whiskey, and rum in the house which isn’t too shabby, but I definitely wouldn’t say we have a well stocked bar.

If I am in the mood for a cocktail, which is a pretty rare occasion, it tends to be something simple like a vodka tonic, but every now and then I try to get creative. Who doesn’t enjoy an icy cold cocktail once in awhile? Especially on hot and humid days like today, there is something about a fancy glass and pretty liquid refreshment.

My blueberry lemonade martini was inspired by the bottle of blueberry juice I buy each week at Trader Joe’s. Sometimes I mix it with water, sometimes in smoothies for an antioxidant boost, but I had never tried it in a cocktail before.

The cocktail is simple. I made two, using the following:

4 ounces Ketel One vodka

2 ounces limoncello

8 ounces blueberry juice

lots of ice for shaking, leave in the glass if desired

The vibrant purple color means it is good for you. Winking smile

The limoncello gave the cocktail that refreshing lemonade quality. All of the flavors went together beautifully, and I enjoyed sipping on this as my dessert.

Are you a cocktail person? What is your combination of choice?

I was at Bacco last night and someone ordered a Limoncello on the rocks and I instantly craved some. How fitting you were mixing cocktails with it. This looks like a fantastic desert cocktail.

This combination sounds so summery. I love it! My current favorite combo is gin, St. Germain, and grapefruit juice… but I think you knew that. 😉

This does sound delicious. I’m a wine person, hands down. Every once in a while I’ll enjoy a cocktail but it’s hard to find one that isn’t too sweet. I love the strawberry basil martini at the Oak Room.

What a delicious sounding drink! Perfect for this gorgeous weather we’ve been having. If I had the ingredients on hand I’d make one right now (even though its not currently gorgeous)

In the summer I’m definitely a cocktail person – but I like them ice-cold, refreshing and not too sweet. I recently muddled fresh strawberries and basil and topped with vodka and club soda…very summery!!

    LOVE the blueberry lemon combo!
