I know, it is a very difficult thing to do right now, especially if you live in the Northeast or any other place that has experienced an endless stretch of snow days and days where the temperatures dream to reach freezing.
Last night Boston Sports Woman hosted an evening that gave a much-needed respite from the wintry gloom and a girly night out that I didn’t realize I needed. Nestled in the warmth of the North End’s Savas Studios, I think we were all able to more easily picture ourselves in spring.
I had never been to Savas Studios, and as I don’t know the North End super well, I cautiously made my way over in the FREEZING cold from the Haymarket MBTA stop. Once I arrived, I was presented with so many beautiful things and a friendly welcome that I forgot almost immediately about the cold outside.
Savas Studios, owned by sisters Christine and Stephanie Savas, offers a beautiful array of unique clothes and jewelry. They feature many local designers and some things you can only find in their beautiful boutique. I was especially smitten with some of the fun baubles and feathered hairpieces. I will definitely return for some shopping.
So what exactly did the evening at Savas Studios with Boston Sports Woman entail? Once I peeked behind the curtain, I saw what was in store for the evening.
Catherine, a representative from etcetera brought a broad range of clothing from etcetera’s spring line for us to try on.
There were lots of fun and flirty dresses, skirts, and jackets, but I settled on my favorite almost immediately. And totally missed a photo of it.
But that’s okay, because we actually had a professional photo shoot!
That is, after we had been dressed and had our makeup professionally done with Arbonne cosmetics. Would you believe I have never had my makeup done before?!
It was a total trip for me, the girl who works in yoga pants and a ponytail every day, to have makeup done by a professional artist and to have a professional photographer photograph me. I‘ll share the photos as soon as I have them. Mostly I feel like I was terribly awkward in front of the camera!
In addition to the lovely clothes and makeup, there were also a variety of fabulous snacks including Vita Coco coconut water, one of my favorites, red and white wine, spinach dip, mango salsa, and smoked salmon, something I can not get enough of lately!
I had such a fun time with all of the ladies at this event. Everyone was so nice, funny, and welcoming, and I really hope to be able to do this again sometime soon. For a cover charge of $35, it was completely worth it for a unique way to spend an evening with some fabulous women. I left happy and empowered, and coveting this jacket from etcetera.
Thank you to Kathy from Boston Sports Woman for inviting me to participate in such a great evening!
Have you ever had your makeup done professionally or been in a fashion photo shoot? If you live in the Boston area, would you be interested in a girly evening like this in the future?

Thanks so much for braving the cold and so nice to finally meet you after reading your wonderful blog! Your photos were amazing and can’t wait until everyone sees them.
I have the ETCETERA collection in my home through Tuesday the 15th if anyone wants to play dress up and I can have a make up person here. It will also be back with the summer collection in April.
Anyone can send me their email and address to be on the invite list for future events boutique4aweek@earthlink.net

I had my makeup professionally done for my friend’s wedding and felt so pretty the whole day. I’ve done some pro photo shoots when I was little just for family pictures… and am looking forward to some more in the fall for our engagement shoot. Can’t wait to see your pics! Sounds like a great evening.

What a fun night! I’ve had my make-up done professionally multiple times, but I actually prefer doing my own (I actually dabbled as a part time make-up artist back in the day!) I would TOTALLY be interested in an event like this in the future! When I first started blogging, I was actually really torn between choosing food or fashion hehe. Obviously food blog won, but fashion/beauty is my other love 🙂
