When I’m down my favorite pick-me-up is to cook. Though I’ll also cave to a cheese pizza. I’m with a boston food diary on thisa one though. my love of food surpasses the words I’ve got. It’s comforting and uplifting while at the same time being innovative and new, its challenging and gratifying. I am kind of a nerd that even made BF try all the different salts (5 of them) in our apt the other day so he can acknowledge a difference.

I think it is fabulous that you cooked such a lovely meal for Eric. I’m sure he enjoyed it so much! I totally agree with your friend that relationships are rarely 50/50. There is always someone who is picking up just a little more when the other can’t. Isn’t that what makes relationships so wonderful? We don’t have to do it all alone.
Cooking takes thoughtful consideration and love. And perhaps this is why I enjoy cooking just as much as I enjoy eating meals prepared by others.

I agree completely about relationships – it is never 50/50 BUT it needs to average out in the end. One person cannot always give 70%.
Love the fish chowder and cookies – a good meal can always lift one’s spirit and make them feel better!
My favorite meals like that are usually the simpler ones – grilled cheese and tomato soup, savory oatmeal. They warm my belly and make me feel almost relaxed.

You are so sweet to have done that for your husband. It is true that a marriage/relationship is not always 50-50. I know it isn’t in our house since I’m not working and my husband is financially supporting us while I search for employment. It’s wonderful to see you have such a supportive husband and the things you do for him to show your appreciation. That; in my opinion, is how a loving marriage should be.
My comfort foods usually involve something incredibly fattening like a big homemade burrito or a plate of nachos or the only fast food I eat nowadays: Chipotle. I can’t always afford to spend the whopping $7-8 since my money has to go elsewhere but sometimes it’s a much needed treat.
But since you posted cookies, those might have to go on my list as well. Yum!

So I have a list of great gift ideas for bakers coming up… but for a sneak preview, I recommend a cookie scoop! If you get a small one, you can make lots of tiny cookies. I think your cookies look beautiful!
And it is so true about the 50/50 and 70/30 thing. Sometimes I’m just completely exhausted and Jeff will make dinner or run and pick up takeout like he did Monday night. Last night I think I was back up to 70 because I spent 2 hours making spaghetti and meatballs from scratch!

Those fudge cookies look so good! It is definitely the time of year for baking!
