Happy weekend! When I think of sunny weekend afternoons, brunch is often one of the first thoughts that pops into my head, and my absolute favorite brunch in Boston is at Masa.
Masa is located in Boston’s foodie filled South End at 439 Tremont St in a warm, funky, Southwest themed space. Their happy hour appetizer tapas can not be beat, and their margaritas are killer. But I am here to talk about brunch.
Upon being seated at Masa for weekend brunch, you are presented with a fairly substantial menu with delicious sweet and savory options, all with a Southwestern flair. If it is Saturday, you can opt to choose the Prix Fixe menu which includes a little brunch appetizer, an entree, and coffee or tea.
On most occasions, I choose the exact same thing. I start with a signature Bloody Masa which is made of Sauza Blanco Tequila and the chef’s spicy, rich Bloody Mary mix and served with a pickled jalapeno.
You can’t go wrong with any of the drinks at Masa. They are always creative and flavorful, and I love that they offer spicy options in addition to their sweet libations.
For my meal, I start with a small caramelized plaintain empanada with Mexican cinnamon cream cheese. With a rich, sweet dough, and a gooey center, the empanada is the perfect treat to start off brunch.
My all time favorite brunch entree is Santa Fe Style Eggs Benedict with Southwestern biscuits, avocado, green chili hollandaise and Southwest home fries.
Every bite of this dish offers a variety of flavors and textures, warm, spicy, creamy sauce, eggs, and biscuits, cold and tangy pico de gallo, and crisp, salty home friends. Combined with a Bloody Masa, this meal is nothing but satisfying.
The brunch time vibe at Masa is bustling but cozy and relaxed. I usually make a reservation and definitely recommend it. Every time I have had brunch at Masa it has been completely packed.
Do you have a favorite brunch spot? When it comes to brunch do you go for sweet like pancakes and French toast or, like me, do you head for the salty savory dishes?

I LOVE Masa! I’ve only been for dinner a few times, and have always had a great meal. I’ve never made it to brunch there, but I really want to. Hopefully when I move back to Boston this summer I can hit up brunch!

YES! Bloody Mary’s!!!

Yum- Masa looks delicious. I think there might be a Masa in Woburn too…or is it a different place? I noticed it next to my yoga studio the other day. Anyway, I’m more of a sweet person when it comes to brunch, but I can go for savory sometimes too!

I, like you, go for salty savory breakfasts. I have had that very dish at Masa! Eggs Benedict is an all time fave! (and Masa for brunch too.) Another favorite brunch spot of mine is Luckys Lounge. Have you been? On Sundays they do a Sinatra jazz brunch. I bet you’d love the eggs bene they prepare.

WOW. This brunch is leaving me speechess, kind of. 🙂 Eggs Bene is definitely my go to when I dine out for bfast. I have to agree with Miss Daisy (above)Lucky’s brunch is my absolute favorite. Saturdays and Sundays, their Sinatra brunch pairs soulful music with savory breakfast specials. Nothing compares. If and when you go to Lucky’s MAKE SURE you or someone you are with gets their meal with Lucky’s signature Tator Tots. I swear to you, these are no ordinary tots. Napolean Dynamite would lose his mind over these gems. Happy brunching 🙂
