Travel Eat Love “Chopped” Challenge

Hello from sunny San Francisco! I hope you have enjoyed the guest posts over the last couple of days; I know I have! Thanks again to Mardi and Lynn!

I have soooo much to fill you in on, and I will definitely be writing a lot over the coming week, but have decided on a little cooking challenge for myself when I get back from vacation and caught up at work. The end of summer definitely signals getting back into the kitchen for me, so I am going to do a little “Chopped” challenge. If you aren’t familiar with the TV show Chopped, it brings together four chefs who compete against each other to create a starter, an entree, and a dessert. In each round they are given some random ingredients that they must include in the dish. At the end of each round someone is also Chopped after judging.

Now unfortunately, I won’t be on Food Network for my challenge, but I do enjoy a good cooking challenge, and I love to use my cooking and eating skills while watching Chopped to come up with what I would cook if on the show. I am going to start with one course, an entree, and I will need help choosing my ingredients.

That’s where you come in. Between now and Saturday the 12th of September, I will be asking readers to leave a comment on this post with the ingredient that they would like to see in the dish. On the 12th, I will use the random integer generator to choose 3 ingredients that I MUST use in one dish. The only rules is that the ingredient you post must be available to me where I live in Boston, and each should be under $10 to keep things reasonable. I won’t be working with a Food Network budget 🙂

If you are interested, feel free to post about the challenge on your blog and join in! I think it would be fun to see what we all get “stuck” with! And I feel like this will make me focus my cooking on more interesting, new recipes a couple of times a week.

Have a fabulous Saturday, and be sure to check back for updates from this heavenly place that is California. (Seriously considering a move. . . )
