Where is summer?

Well, I was going to make the title of this post “It finally feels like summer,” but waking up this morning to another rainy, chilly day sort of changed that. But yesterday was summer! One of the very few glimpses we have had this year, but it was lovely. 

I spent the entire morning and early afternoon at the MSPCA taking my level 2 dog walking class. It was so much fun! We learned a lot of great techniques and how to use clicker training with the dogs. Now I can walk almost all of the dogs in the shelter, and I am excited to be able to train them and help them be more ready to find homes. It feels pretty great to now know how to handle a dog that weighs almost as much as I do!

I arrived home an hour and a half later than planned, ready to spend the rest of the day cleaning. . . any my husband had cleaned the whole house top to bottom! Including polishing the hardwood floors.  (LOVE the Method brand of products from Target, esp the hardwood floor cleaner.)It was so nice to not have to do the cleaning and meant I could concentrate on lunch. I don’t have any photos, but it was a quick and delicious avocado and cheese on an Arnold multi-grain sandwich thin with a side of Fage Greek yogurt mixed with Trader Joe’s almond butter and a teeny bit of Shaw’s brand raspberry jam. Almond butter and jelly yogurt is my new favorite!

We spent the rest of the day in  New Bedford, MA for the Travessia Urban Winery wine club event. I am going to do a separate post on this event because it deserves its own, but I would encourage any MA or RI residents or visitors to take a trip down to New Bedford! I had no idea, but it is a lovely, charming city with several great looking restaurants and cafes, cobblestone streets, and beatiful old buildings. We were starving after our drive down to New Bedford, so we stopped in at Brick Pizzeria, a Neapolitan-style pizzeria on Union Street.

We ordered a small cheese, and it was very quickly put together, tossed in the piping hot brick oven, and ready for us within minutes.

It was so delicious, honestly better than any pizza I have had in Boston. The crust was crispy and browned on the outside and chewy and hot on the inside. The tomato sauce was fresh and chunky, and the mozzarella was a rich, high-quality cheese. I wish this place was closer, because they had a menu full of pizza combinations that I want to try including caramelized onion and gorgonzola. Yum!

After the wine club event, we went for a little drive around New Bedford and into the next town, Fairhaven. I have never even heard of most of the towns in this area, and discovering them was like being on vacation.
